The Teacher is responsible for the direct care and education of children in a childcare setting, including infants and toddlers. This position ensures a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment where children are encouraged to thrive physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The main functions of the Teacher are to oversee program operations with primary concern for establishing and maintaining a physically and emotionally safe place for all youth participants, staff, and visitors; effectively implementing program curriculum and developing activities designed to meet program goals and outcomes; measuring, tracking, and reporting program effectiveness against established goals and outcomes; and managing and coordinating all program activities, paid staff, and volunteers within assigned group. We are seeking a Teacher’s Aide who is passionate about working with children and committed to helping provide a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment. Under the guidance of the Lead Teacher, the Teacher’s Aide will support daily classroom operations, assist in the implementation of program activities, and help create a positive and enriching experience for every child. Friendship House partners with local colleges to provide internships for college students. We seek teaching, counseling, and social services interns to work with kids and families in our programs.
Interns serve as classroom aides or counselors, although we are interested in participating in any unique opportunities a student may wish to pursue through Friendship House, such as nursing, therapy, ministry, or music internships. We will work with you to design a custom internship to meet your requirements.
